YOU’RE a tank commander armed with the right numbers – but can you use them to solve an army of invading subtraction puzzles?
This online game arms you with the numbers 2 and 3 in your turret and asks you to take aim at a series of numbers that come flying towards you. Each time you fire, you take 2 or 3 off the number, and your goal is to knock it down to zero when it will be safely blown up.
However, if you get your sums wrong or the number gets too close, then it will leave wreckage that pushes you higher up the screen. If you’re forced to the top, then it’s game over.
This isn’t as easy a game as you might think – even though it uses only 2 and 3 for subtraction, the numbers get bigger and bigger the longer you hold out, and it can be a challenge to knock down a number as big as, say, 48 before it reaches you, so it’s a test of computer skills too for kids. That makes it suitable for first to third graders, possibly even some fourth graders.
It’s a fun way to make youngsters think quickly – and enjoy themselves at the same time. You might even say it’s a blast!
